National College for Higher Education (NCHE) was established in 1996 by a group of experienced and dedicated academicians for providing quality and need based education in a highly congenial academic environment. The broad objective of the college is to prepare and mould students capable of catering to the future manpower needs of the country.
Right from the inception, NCHE has been striving for academic excellence towards overall personality development of students with the growing needs for competent professionals in the country. NCHE created the Center for Development Studies (CeDS) in 1999. CeDS has been offering need based academic programs: Bachelor in Development Studies (BDevS) and Bachelor in Development Finance (BDFin) in affiliation with Kathmandu University (KU). Besides these, CeDS has a separate research and development wing for conducting research and training activities. The motto of the CeDS is to inculcate knowledge to the students through holistic approach of teaching, training and research.
SAF Madanjeet SinghScholarshipsForBachelors in Development Studies (BDevS)
Bachelor in Development Studies (BDevS) is a four-year interdisciplinary program run by National College in affiliation with Kathmandu University The program emphasizes on economics, sociology, environment, and development management. Under the aegis of the the SAF Madanjeet Singh group scholarship scheme, eight (8) scholarships are available for students of SAARC countries provided with the generous assistance of Ambassador Madanjeet Singh and South Asia Foundation in order to promote harmony and cooperation in South Asia. Accordingly, while these SAF scholars will attend classes and participate in extra-curricular activities with the rest of the regular students, a major component of the program will be regional cooperation in South Asia
As our country and the world stand at this critical juncture of history, where there are myriad possibilities within our capacity for making lives of people better, more than ever before, responsibilities fall on our shoulders to advance the cause of scholarship for the service of this country and the rest of humanity.
Through enduring impacts in education, research, innovation and service in diverse fields, we are now capable to address the challenges which seemed to be insurmountable in not too distant past.
I am glad that I got SAF scholarship to pursue BDevS in National College. The curriculum is based on theories and research works in a way that the students get to study different aspects of society. Field trips helped us get a pure knowledge and clear images about society as a whole. We are encouraged of thinking critically and asking questions in many situations.
